Veganism is a modern variation of the moral purity impulse that drove kosher, halal and other dietary rules to make oneself pure/holy. They just deny it IS a religious impulse, just as those fixated on “clean eating” but unable to explain it are.
He hates her for her supposed pollution and violation of moral purity rules. This is the same hatred of the infidel and dissident that leads to honor killings in Islam of women who don’t cover up.
