The 50-year-old is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the Dec. 2, 2016, fire that swept through an electronic music party at the so-called Ghost Ship warehouse in Oakland. Prosecutors allege Almena, who was the master tenant on the lease, was criminally negligent when he turned the industrial building into a residence for artists and held events without proper permits.

The building was packed with furniture, extension cords and other flammable material but had only two exits and no smoke detectors, fire alarms or sprinklers, prosecutors say.

Almena was released in the rural community of Upper Lake, where his wife and children live.

For most people, the coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death. The vast majority of people recover.

Not surprised. In the Bay Area and North Coast instead of "Florida Man" headlines they have "Lake County Man" headlines.

Actually most people do not develop any symptoms at all. On the fire department that I retired from eleven people tested positive five weeks ago. Two weeks later they all tested negative. None would have been tested if they were not firefighters. Only one had any symptoms, but they were from his seasonal allergies. People were surprised about this, but doctors from the county health department said that this was normal.

He could probably make a case that his 5th and 6th amendment rights are being compromised. His codefendant was found not guilty months ago. The DA has yet to decide if they are going to retry him and if so on what charges. The whole thing is a colossal mess.

Yeah, the guy is a weirdo but DA needs to pee, poop, or get off the pot.
