A minor technical disagreement.

IMO the main benefit is not to the wearer, but others in the event of a sneeze or cough, to semi-contain it.

Having worked in a laboratory for many years and occasionally wearing particle masks, n95... Scott air pak and attending endless classes on how to wear them...
Few are ever a ‘proper fit’.

fair enough, but I don’t think someone who tears a hole in the mask is worried about infecting others either.
