Exactly. Why is this so hard to understand? If people would do the right thing, we wouldn’t have to take these measures. The people are complaining about masks are the same ones who hollered not to stop flights because of the economy, “it’s just the flu”, “it’s a hoax”, etc and “it only killed Asians”. Well, look where that has gotten us. With early border closures, testing and contact tracing, we would not have had to shut anything down masse. Our economy would have been much better off.
The pushback against early measures has led us to this point and pushback against masks will lead us to something worse. If people cannot even compromise on the simple, painless, selfless measure of masks and distancing, we are looking at more lockdowns and potential crashed healthcare.
They seem to think somehow this virus has changed. The government is trying to find a way to open up and be safe, to respect freedom while respecting the next persons right not to get sick. They have to balance not crashing healthcare with not crashing the economy. It is a not an easy job. But the anarchists on FR are saying they won’t comply with anything that helps their fellow man. They are literally ready for it all to burn down.
Crashing the healthcare will crash the economy. Millions of middle age people in the hospital will crash the economy. It’s not even about deaths. do these people not have kids or grandkids that they worry about becoming sterile?
