Good luck with it. Something with the video card or video system finally crapped the bed on my 2011 MacBook Pro. I’d had it fixed once about 2 1/2 years ago, but it just wasn’t worth it to do it. It was a known problem on that production year, and although they’d had a recall on it, mine wasn’t having any problems at the time, so I wasn’t qualified to have it fixed. The computer didn’t owe me a penny, and I was able to keep the hard drive from it.
You are replacing a 2011 computer you are doing very well. If used at home mostly I would buy an external monitor for a MacBook Air. Can even be just 19 or 21 inches.
