My initial reaction is that the most obvious reason to alert them to this is to put them on notice not to try "Step 2" of their bioweapon attack, because we have the goods on them and will make it public to the world and then declare war.

How would you go about triggering a bloody purge of anyone in the enemy ranks on a particular issue/capability if that enemy was super duper ultra paranoid?
