After spending nearly two months on the run, Speedy Gonzalez was nabbed by police in Georgia during a routine traffic stop. Federal authorities had been looking for Gonzalez since March when he was identified as a suspect in a case of mail fraud.

Authorities accused Speedy, which is his legal name, of stealing checks from a mailbox in January. Officials said that he used the money to purchase $3,000 worth of items from Home Depot, which he later returned for cash.

Gonzalez managed to evade capture for more than six weeks. Officials said he was spotted in Tennessee before he was finally arrested in Georgia.

Gonzalez was taken into custody and is facing charges of forgery, identity theft, and theft by deception. He also has outstanding warrants on similar counts in Alabama and another county in Georgia.

I used to watch him on Looney Toons as a kid in the 80’s. Sylvester never did catch him.

Of course not. He's the fastest mouse in all Me-hee-co! Unless you count his sister. She's pretty fast, too.

For some reason, they never play that on the oldies station, even though it made #2. The writers also got some money out of Elton John for Crocodile Rock. I had suggested to Rush that he make it the illegal immigrant update, but he never responded.

Speedy has joined the Frito Bandito in retirement. I always liked Moody River by him too.

Was the perp’s birth name something like Vladimir Brezhnevski? He looks more russkii than mex. Of 10 articles I pulled up, not one gives his name before he changed it.
