“The Clinton’s would’ve disappeared into oblivion without Ross Perot.”

Nah. If Bill would have lost in 1992, I guarantee you that the Dems would have run him again in 1996. If he would have lost in 1996, then he *might* have disappeared ... but Hillary is a powermonger and she wasn’t going to let that happen. Bill was going to win in 1992 or 1996 come hell or highwater.

Sadly, even if the Clintons would have lost and vanished, I doubt things would have been much different. The Bush family is a pack of Neocons ... the only difference between a liberal and a Neocon is that Neocons will publicly approve of war while a liberal will approve of it privately, not publicly, and will turn on our armed forces the instant it becomes politically expedient. Outside of that, they’re basically the same thing.

Also, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that HW Bush *wanted* Clinton to win since he’d have a much easier time implementing his “New World Order”, but that’s tinfoil hat nonsense :-). Still, it was pretty impressive how HW Bush “adopted” Bill not long after Bill won.

Mario Cuomo was the annointed one in 1992, but he turned it down because papa Bush had a 90% approval rating. Nobody wanted to run against him. Clinton was an unknown kid governor of Arkansas and he was the only one that would run. He got the nod, recruited Perot and the rest is history.
