When asked by a reporter after the 1969 Moon Landing how the US managed to beat the Soviets to the Moon, he answered, “Because our Germans were better than their Germans.”
He took most of his team and loats of documentation and equipment in a caravan to surrender to the western allies; those who refused to go went home and got rounded up by the Soviets. They probably weren't too bright.
