Never been a big baseball fan or know much about the Cards, but even I know Stan “The Man” is a classic legend! Like Mantle, Killebrew and many others. Too many to count.
In 1961 my Dad took me the All Start Game at Fenway.In '61 the Red Sox had a rookie pitching sensation named Don Schwall. One of the batters he faced was Musial.The count went to 3-2 at which point Musial succeeded in fouling off about a half dozen pitches.After about the sixth foul my Dad leaned over and said to me "you watch,Musial's just toying with this kid".The next pitch Schwall struck him out.
Fenway went berserk!
Whenever I think of Musial I recall how much I miss my Dad.
