NO, we CAN NOT control the weather!

Using HAARP for an example: The electrical power required to initiate even a single thunderstorm would black out the entire North American Continent.

Control weather?. We don't understand it sufficiently to accurately forecast it beyond a single day. How, then, could we even begin to think of controlling it?

(...and, don't even think about getting me started on the idiocy associated with Gorebull Wahruming!)

I just want to make the point that people may be referring to weather modification documented elsewhere. In the wikipedia document I link, the first line of the article reads, “weather modification (also known as weather control)”.

We know of cloud seeding (and it’s limitations) and Operation Popeye (used to prolong monsoons to damage Vietnam economically). A Russian immigrant spoke of her country (then USSR)using cloud seeding to “knock down” a radioactive cloud system heading for Moscow (sadly the village where rain fell became a no-go zone, families could not go in to retrieve the dead).

So modifications to weather for warfare purposes exists enough to be banned by the UN. I haven’t given it a thought re Covid-19 or other illnesses so I have nothing to assert there. Just hoping to keep a “pissed off” physicist from snapping a coffee cup in half in frustration. ;)

I heard from a man who worked in HAARP that any effect it might have was purely very very localized, for defensive purposes. That it could never control weather as speculated.
