How many restaurants and fast food places were there back in the ‘50’s and mid-’60’s?
It used to be that going out to eat was only for special occasions, such as anniversaries and birthdays.
Many restaurants are in serious jeopardy, but even a 50% occupancy for the good ones will allow them to survive even if they do not turn much of a profit.
At this point, that is all we can hope for. I have been pretty surprised at how much take-out I have been seeing in my city. Drive-thru’s are packed and there is a constant stream of cars in and out of the parking lots of many restaurants with to-go orders.
I do wonder how many restaurants will survive
a friend of mine owns a chain of High End Restaurants, he says at least 60% are TOAST and never coming back. on day 3 of the shutdown he flew down to his villa in Cabo to ride out the storm.
Weird how not one single government employee has missed a paycheck or even a reduction in pay.
Huh.
Trees of liberty and all that
Sorry I didn’t mean to imply. The rat/rino Governors made no effort to find ways to use precautions and keep businesses open, none. They took a meat axe to the problem, left businesses lying in the rubble and never looked back.
Where there is talent and capability, there will be a return. Not a fast return, as money for start-up might be an issue, but talent, particularly is preparing food, will prevail in the end.
:)
Yeah. I have been watching that show of late.
——But as we know, there are limits to raising prices on any product being sold.-——
Yes, but I would be fine with them cutting the serving sizes, most restaurants serve way to much per plate.
We try to always split an item so we don’t have to take anything home.
Uh, not really the point.
The current businesses/restaurants are burnt toast - forever.
Their owners and employees will take years to find another vocation or job.
That’s suicides, alcohol and drug dependency and depression.
That’s abusive relationships and more.
Oh no.
The rest of society of must take this Yuge haircut, like Los Angeles, where it is estimated 55% of workers are SOL for a job.
But yeah, Givernment workers are sacrosanct and their job is a human right
Which is where we will be next year
Ive yet to understand what wide spread testing gains us. Other than a chance for dips$&ts like Governor Klan to continue using his one man rule of VA. More testing will bring more positives and then OMG we ca t open now look how many people have it!!!
This.
If I were a restaurateur, that wouldn't be enough of an inducement for me to reopen.
A tragedy. To the above, I would add, among my favorites as a frequent visitor to San Francisco, Brazen Head, Roma Antica and Maybeck's.
We need a permanent shutdown of Nonessential government workers.
Last night I happily ordered dinner from one of my local restaurants which is a small “hole in the wall” Italian joints that has incredible food.
Tomorrow I’ll be ordering from another local small restaurant that still has it’s doors open and although they aren’t seating customers, you can order food and pick it up easily enough as they aren’t large enough to offer delivery.
I’m doing what I can to help keep these small places in business by frequenting them as much as I can afford to.
If I can ask, what’s your industry?
