“New York antibody study estimates 13.9% of residents “

Is that low as compare to Ca?

I will have to find the estimate for Ca, I am thinking it real high compare to New York.

The CA study was based on a test with a 90% accuracy (bad) and that also gave positives for other corona viruses that were common cold caliber. It was a junk study and the links didn’t work anymore last I checked, so it looks like they pulled it.

I wonder if this NY study is by the same group with the same junk. Doesn’t say in the article and if Cuomo is touting it, you know there is a political motivation, anyway.

Still, even if accurate and precise, that leaves over 85% of NYers overall and nearly 80% in NYC still at risk.

CA’s study’s numbers with the junk test were a lot lower, though, at around 2 to 4%, IIRC.

In neither case is that anywhere near the numbers needed for herd immunity, but it won’t stop the FluBros from trying to use it to downplay the lethality. At least they’re bargaining. That’s progress.

There have been a couple antibody studies in CA. The one in Santa Clara County found 1.5% of 3300 people had antibodies, in California's supposed "ground zero". In LA they tested 900 people and found 4.1% with antibodies. It makes sense that NY would be much, much higher than anywhere in CA.

I would take all of these antibody studies with a grain of salt. I don't trust these tests that have been rushed out, and some of the more capable "big pharma" companies have held back on releasing AB tests due to high false positives when sensitivity is high enough to reduce false negatives to an acceptable level. When actual population with antibodies is in the low single digits, you need better than 99% confidence in your positive results without producing false positives.
