I hate to see anuptick just as things are opening up.
Today's case increase is about the same as yesterday's spike.
Unless we find a cure, or vaccine, the coronavirus will slowly infect most of the world's population who don't take personal protections seriously. And I don't know how long we can continue these unprecedented containment measures. I'm not sure even Korea will be able to do so for much longer. Certainly the US seems ready to abandon most of what is in place.
Another thing that worries me are the long term consequences of having had the virus, like permanent organ damage, infertility, and the virus reemerging in the body.
For the elderly (most of FR) the coronavirus will remain a significant threat. The CFR is anywhere for 3.4% to 18%, depending upon which age group the elderly fall into. That's not changing for the foreseeable future, barring a cure.
Average age of all country populations are likely dropping noticeably in coming months. And unless we can develop the medicine to mitigate this pathogen very soon, the world for the next few months and years will increasingly seem alien.
This is a long way from being over. :(
