Has anyone posted an updated graph of major countries (top 20 at most) daily (new) fatalities, recently?
I looked at a few, mostly Euro countries that got hit a little earlier than the US, and my impression is that the daily fatalities numbers do not fall off rapidly - that is, not in “bell curve” fashion. (Actually, one country’s curve was bell shaped, but I don’t recall which.) UK (3-day average) was still going UP, yesterday, IIRC.
Seen as a group, the curves would be useful. It’d also be useful to note any easing of restrictions if such has occurred in these countries.*
The slow decline in fatalities in the face of continued “lockdowns” (I believe?) in countries that are ahead of us is worrisome. With the US already over 42k fatalities, and gradually reopening, I could see us still reaching nearly 80k fatalities by June 1. That may be a price we just have to pay - this country cannot stay locked down, or even 50% staying home, much longer.
*Incidentally, a friend in Norway reports restrictions being eased there, however, I do not believe Norway was ever hit hard. They have only 182 fatalities out of a population of 5.368 million people. I would not be surprised if they have fewer CV + flu deaths in the last month than they would have had if everything was “normal” with flu taking it’s typical toll. What’d they do right?
Here are Worldometers - US figures for the 21st. There are a lot of new deaths figures for the day. Noticeable is the rather large increase in deaths for Oklahoma and Minnesota given the low number of total cases. I see that DC with more cases had much less than half the new deaths. Grocery stores in DC are pretty strict about requiring masks on customers. A friend of mine who shops in DC but banks in MD was very annoyed that hardly anyone in a grocery store in MD had masks. I see that while MD has about 4 1/2 times the total cases it had 10 times the number of new deaths compared with DC.

New things I saw today. There seems to be a circulatory element causing bleeding under the skin from small vessels. And then there is the guy who lost a leg to DVT. I suspect that taking extra Vitamin C would help there. Also kidney failure is another major complication.
