Sadly, the local papers are primarily stock articles. Our newspaper is down to a skeleton crew with one or two articles of local interest. The paper itself is only a few pages.

They did it to themselves. Liberal articles, advertising rate hikes, and editorials drove conservatives and businesses away.

It was coming, anyway. Prior to the internet, stock market prices, movie listings, car listings, employment ads, and local stores all had ads. Our paper would have two pages of local theater movie ads, five pages of classifieds.

Nobody advertises in newspapers anymore.

Printing costs went way up. Delivery costs went way up. Advertising revenue went way down.
