I think a far more common trend has been extended family and friend groups fleeing big cities like NY and LA for mountain, beach and lake homes, where they can quarantine and vacation at the same time. I have family who live on a lake in the Sierras that has a lot of short term rentals, and every single house is booked. The local market and butcher are empty due to the huge number of people, plus folks driving up to an hour from other towns to clean them out. The people who live in those areas aren't too happy about it, but it's still a free country.
