It holds the symptoms in check so that your body has a chance to fight it off without ending up on a ventilator.
The symptoms are also what kill you, not having the virus in your system.

Exactly how it is suppose to work. If giving early enough it does help people and less ever need to be put on a ventilator.
If you are on a ventilator, this drug won’t help, the virus is too far along and did its damage. And the virus load would be insanely high to stop at that point. That is what I have been reading about this.
