The important thing to understand is that 556 - deaths in NYC yesterday from Covid19 - is bigger than 148. It’s what’s called a “higher” number. You can also say there are “more” people dying. Usually “more” people dying is considered a bad thing. But not on the flubro thread! Because

State level data - there are too many variables skewing city level. For example, are more people outside NYC coming into NYC for treatment. Also the death rate has gone up in NYC since 2014. There are likely higher death rates in the winter in NY in normal conditions.
