We’ll be spared that due to this nation’s 15 minute attention span.
This time next year likely few people will be talking about this.
The 1918 pandemic did not continue to affect our culture for very long.

Until then it will be in the news. After that date will depend on just one outcome.
“I think I’ll find/make a mask with a middle finger on it.”
Someone posted an image with a guy wearing a MAGA mask. To some people that would be more offensive than “the bird”.
The Etsy CEO was on FBN this morning, and the home cottage sellers have put Etsy’s numbers back up by the face masks they’re making and selling. So making unique masks might be a good idea. (”MAGA”)
“They wont go near the hoodrats.”
That could end up being a good thing. Just sayin’...
“this is temporary, and MOST of it will be removed,”
I think I want everything back — except handshaking. I can live without handshaking even though it’s been a western culture thing for centuries. It isn’t sanitary overall. It is a good way to assess the character of someone you’re meeting, though. Nothing worse than a limp handshake. Overly aggressive/tight ones are bad, too.
“The best I hate to say may be the oriental way...bow only.”
When this whole thing started a few weeks ago, that Sunday in church we were kidding around bowing and curtsying. It could catch on. ;)
This is a 100-year event.
We should not go and re-engineer the culture over a 100-year event.
“We should not go and re-engineer the culture over a 100-year event.”
Exactly what I meant. Go back to six months ago and let us live our lives.
People back then were more sane and had a bit more common sense.
Oh, until it runs up against the EnviroMental religion(TM). Then we must either overturn everything learned that “hurts” “The Earth(TM)” or regularly adopt everything that “helps”.
Jury still out on “reusable grocery bags”. Notice how you didn’t hear much about that, and how they must be stopped for this virus.
Well actually traditionally westerners were supposed to do bowing. In fact I think “elites”/nobles never “hand shook”, just bowed.
We just don’t do it as ridiculously as orientals do.
LOL the character thing. I went to a huckster dentist (long story) whose “too nice” violations included ALWAYS shaking your hand when saying hello (though he was making me come every week). That wasn’t the problem - it was how he strategically faced his hand DOWN like a HOOK toward yours which HAD to be on the bottom and almost DROVE your hand down. Total power play.
I am not against hand-shaking, but as stated, we already have bowing (reasonably) which would suit fine.
Unfortunately, hand-shaking was much replaced by stupid hand slaps and fist bumps. Sick of all the hipster-doofus swagger with that.
“faced his hand DOWN like a HOOK toward yours which HAD to be on the bottom and almost DROVE your hand down. Total power play.”
Definitely one of the handshaking “tells”.
Dad was a minister, and it was interesting what he’d say at Sunday dinner after new people showed up for church that morning. He was so good at sizing them up when they shook hands after church. He was pretty much right on target. I learned a lot!
Place "TRUMP" on the mask and see how fast that mandate disappears.
All states need to start social distancing from DC. Secession is the only cure for the Wuhan Scam.
