Get a pressure canner and pressure can your meat.

I had some old venison in my freezer that was starting to freezer burn so I pressure canned it and it looked and smelled perfect.

I’ve been pressure canning meat for years now and it’s a terrific way to preserve meat. They you are also not dependent on the electricity supply and having to worry about losing a freezer full of food should the power system go down for any appreciable time.

Now granted, some stuff is not pressure can-able. Now way to pressure can a porterhouse that you want to grill. But it’s perfect for all those recipes that call for stew meat.

And food is food.

You’re right.

We have a pressure canner. Have just never canned meat.

That will probably be a summer/fall project for us to clean out the freezer, just in case.
