Already sizing up an Alaskan cruise here.. easiest to get on and offboard for us, no flying.. we both already likely had the CV crud and it will be a far cleaner ship I would hope.

Knock on wood re: health.

My daughter who yearly cruises really liked doing an Alaskan cruise.

She tells me all I need is warm clothes and a raincoat.

I ask what is the appeal of that cruise and she and her husband say the magnificent scenery.

We are in the Boston area and that is quite a flight for us, and My wife and I don't fly anymore.

Nice that you don't have to fly. -Tom

At least Carnival should survive. Been on seven of their cruises out of FL and all were perfect 5/5. Ate all kinds of foods even on excursions and never had even an upset stomach.

The bookings spike is likely real as cruising addicts are grabbing future cruise savings going forward, as far out as they can book. My June Bahamas cruise will be cancelled so I’ll cancel and receive 100% refund then book another to replace it at substantial savings. May buy a few more at the current savings further out.

Bought stock too but expecting a big hit tomorrow on CDC overreach. It’ll be withdrawn or amended in the future imo but it’ll be a short term dump. CDC trolls just playing Pump and Dump. Huge money to be made for savvy investing. Wish I’d dumped all my stock on Friday along with the CDC employees and their friends in govt and families.

Well I hope RC survives. We have 2 we want to go on in the next two years. We just love em. Waking up and walking out on the balcony/porch and seeing an entirely different landscape then you were looking the night or 2 before is just one of the coolist things there is.

Been on 2 RCL cruises. Didn’t like either. Not friendly at all. Example: I’m an early riser and the blue taped off dining room before 7 am opening offering a single coffee station set off to the side. On a Carnival ship I go into the Lido buffet (Windjammer equiv) at any time. It’s open, has coffee and some food available 24/7 and the workers step out of the way with a “good morning sir” deference. That’s a vacation.

I just go on cruises to relax. Not wanting a bunch of pretension and rules. That’s not relaxing. IMO Carnival has the best crews/crew training and therefore the best cruises.

Looks like the CDC wants to cramp the income of your favorites Royal Caribbean and Carnival

from the article;
In the wake of numerous coronavirus outbreaks onboard, the CDC has banned Carnival, Norwegian Cruises, and Royal Caribbean cruise lines from sailing in US waters until at least July.

Those three companies alone represent $60 billion of the cruise line market. - TOM

I know! Pretty much you have to book a year ahead or last minute to get a deal.

Im booked for a July 16 out of Copenhagen to Talin, Helsinki and St Petersburg - 11 days. Holland America offering last minute cancellations but I want that cruise! Hope all is clear by then - thats 3 months away.

The CDC just wants MONEY. Did you see Friday’s 12pm selloff in cruise line stocks? Under International Law the CDC and Homeland Security can’t impose most of their restrictions on foreign-flagged vessels. Also their health and care mandates violate Safe Haven and Maritime Aide provisions. Then there’s the whole issue of the states regulating private cruise ports, not the Feds for US to US home port cruising. Cruise ports are not international airports!

Hopefully Desantis will see the Fed overreach for what it is and tell DHS and CDC to pound sand. The ports are in state waters. The ships can get gussied up and play pretty from 8 miles to 200 to placate the Feds -just don’t impose restrictions in state waters on domestic-based cruising and cruisers.

Throw the bums out of the ports!

Well each to their own, l don’t care for Carnival. We both have our reasons for our preference no doubt. If they make it l will not hesitate to go again: after all this l bet they end up being one of the safest ways to travel.. if they make it.

I was hoping people would scare folks about cruises so they’d be cheaper for me

IMHO I would expect deals when they start up again.

When they get their footing which might take a year or so, they can go back to previous cruise packages.-Tom

Wifey has done fall foliage cruises a couple times in your neck of the woods.. not me.. it’s 5 hours plus turbulence to get to the dock.

I hear ya on flying.. my body is no larger than it was was 30 years ago,, the seats they squeeze ya into sure have shrunk tho..

Alaska is big, mostly green and white and so far, all the animals and vendors have been friendly to us, unlike some ports of call in the Caribbean.

Good list but more ships can be added like the Greg Mortimer in which I did a thread on FR. The latest info on that Arctic cruise ship is at:
