A Charlotte woman hasnt left her house in more than three weeks, yet still tested positive for COVID-19 late Thursday.
Im absolutely terrified, Rachel Brummert, who already has an autoimmune disorder, said. This is the sickest Ive ever been and its the most scared Ive ever been. From what Im hearing about ventilators, its scary stuff. Im really hoping I can wait this out at home.
At a higher risk for complications due to her underlying condition, Brummert said she listened to the health experts. Other than a trip to the pharmacy more than three weeks ago, she hasnt left her house once.
I really thought I was doing everything right, she said.
Brummert said aside from the pharmacist and her husband, who grocery shops but is temporarily living in a separate room, the only other person shes come into contact with is a woman who volunteered to drop off groceries at her doorstep once. Brummert said the woman later tested positive for COVID-19.
I barely had any contact, she said. I didnt even touch her.
Brummert said she gets the mail every few days, but always wears gloves. However, she didnt think to wear gloves when bringing in packages from her front porch. In addition, she said she hasnt eaten takeout.
Brummert has experienced many of the symptoms associated with COVID-19, including cough, fever, headache and trouble breathing, but even so, she said it took several days to meet the criteria to be tested.
Regardless of the source of the infection in her case, Brummert knows her diagnosis is just another reminder that COVID-19 is easy to get and often hard to trace.
Ive never had anything like this before, she said. Ive had the flu. This is not the flu. Its a whole nother monster.
“From what Ive seen in the news its not lung failure. Turns out its red blood cell failure. “
Amazing how those itty bitty red blood cells show up as massive lung damage on xrays.
“What treatment would you give to someone without lung failure?”
Non Sequitur
My understanding is that damage is from a lack of oxygen and or the ventilator. Blood transfusion would be better. Things like this are why the death rate is falling so much.
“My understanding is that damage is from a lack of oxygen and or the ventilator. “
1. There is plenty of oxygen in the lungs.
2. We are discussing pre-ventilator damage.
“If someone is significantly hypoxic a ventilator is the only option”
If the hypoxia were caused by damage to red blood cells, wouldn’t a transfusion of healthy red blood cells help?
first its not. a used by damage to the red blood cells. Second volume is the worst thing you can give these patients it causes respiratory failure to worsen and red blood cells are the most potent volume expander we have. Third a blood transfusion causes an inflammatory response in people that already have way too much inflammation going on. Fourth if you look at all people who get blood transfusions for any reason their 30 day and 1 year mortality are higher than people in similar situations that did not get blood transfusions. The proper response to someone hyooxic on maximal nasal oxygen is to intubation them and put them on a ventilator
And that is why these lock downs are pure horse crap.
You remember wrongly.
I have always maintained in this conversation that only 30% of patients actually have ARDS when they present with serious symptoms that normally lead to ventilator use. These remaining people will not be helped, or worse, be hurt, by ventilators.
” Blood transfusion would be better.”
Please cite a source for this. Perhaps you are confusing the issue. Many sites are referring to blood plasma antigen therapy as blood transfusions.

Let me refresh your memory (that point refers to those with lung failure):
“For only 30% of those that get to that point.
That point is in ICU needing ventilator support, TexasGator.
Read what I wrote.
“You missed the part about her husband shopping.”
My money is on the husband, probably no symptoms and a very low level of the virus - but for her, with a crappy immune system, that’s all it took.
Yes, there are different frequencies of UV-C. Two of the UV-C bands produce O3 (one more than the other). As I already have O3 generators, I bought one with the UV-C band that does not generate O3. That way, I won’t have to wait for the O3 to dissipate, before entering a treated room. I haven’t heard about another type of UV light, but I’ll be on the lookout for it now.
I don’t know which (if any) strains of UV-C will be given the official stamp of approval for sterilizing masks. I’m assuming that we’ll find out soon.
The inverse-square law applies; so, 20 minutes should be more than enough. I think 20 minutes would be enough for (say) an 8'X8’X8’ room. If you have a large box (say) 4'X4’X4’ that would imply you only need 5 minutes. Given that the light only works where it shines, you might consider running it for 10 minutes, then moving everything around and giving it another 10 minutes. Your aluminum foil reflectors would give you a big margin of safety.
Don’t forget the mail... and any cash you get from the bank or ATM... and your purse.
Yikes! And thanks for the link...
Masks can be washed without ruining the material - alcohol destroys the fabric. I’ll try to find the link - posted it a few days ago and would have to sort through a hundred replies...
Thanks a bunch for the information and the hints.
End of January through February I was doing all sorts of research and buying stuff (I had masks) and prepping. But mainly learning stuff and trying to figure out how to do decon, etc. But part of me thinking (and hoping) it might end up like my efforts for Y2K. But not really, as we saw the news from China every day.
Then March came and putting all of that research into actual action including wearing masks out and about. I finally got tired of trying to explain to others why I did. They would always fall back on “Well the CDC says you don’t need a mask.....” I even gave some of my masks to relatives that were saying that.
“Well, just in case they change their minds then you’ll have them.” (Knowing full well that the CDC would change their minds).
The WHO, CDC (and equivalents just about everywhere) outright lied to us about the masks. From the beginning, I told my relatives to ignore their lies and gave some of them masks. I knew they were lying because it contradicted what I was told, while I was immune-compromised for over a year. It’s come full circle — Beverly Hills is requiring people to wear them, while in public.
We were discussing long failure.
