Mom and Dad should have been brought home, if at all possible, long ago.
Not everyone has kids. Or kids that could be of help. Kids might be hundreds of miles away and ‘essential’ workers that would bring it back home to mom/dad. And some kids might not be fit carers. etc.

Those are Skilled Nursing Facilities, so most of their residents likely require care beyond the capability of their families. My dad stayed in these facilities a few times following major procedures that required a couple weeks of inpatient rehab. What a depressing place.
