If the administration admitted the lack of masks at the beginning of this crisis, it would have caused panic. Shut down was all they could do until they got enough masks.
Somewhere there is a mid-level official, maybe 2 or 3, who should be strung up until they are, in the words of Star Trek’s “Q”, “dead, dead, dead.”* Because SOMEBODY knew the cupboard was bare, so to speak, and even the slightest hints of trouble from China, early on, should have been enough to kickstart precautions that are supposed to be in place even if there’s no hint of trouble...
*Mr. Morden’s head on a pike, with Vir waving “bye-bye” at him, (Babylon 5), suits me too.
Sorry to be so graphic, if the above offends anyone, but this just PO’s me to no end. There is no excuse for it, and God knows how many lives it has already cost.
