It’s misleading for the MSM to declare that Sweden is letting the disease run its course. They have voluntary work-at-home, voluntary stay at home, sick pay for 21 days, and almost mandatory stay at home for seniors. Other than a governor mandating it, the only difference is they still have elementary schools open, although universities are closed.

On Mar 31, Sweden had about 4500 cases and 181 deaths. Nine days later, infection is in every county, they have double the cases and 870 deaths Test rate unknown. In a country of 10 million on a good day. Proportionally, that’s not good.

from wiki:
On agency recommendation, the government can follow, as it has with legislation limiting freedom of assembly, temporarily banning gatherings of over 50 individuals; as well as physically closing secondary schools and universities. Primary schools have remained open, in part to avoid healthcare workers needing to stay home with their children.
The Public Health Agency and government issued recommendations to work from home, if possible; for people above 70 to stay at home; and issued general recommendations to avoid unnecessary travel within the country and to promote social distancing between people. Those with even minimal symptoms which could be COVID-19 are recommended to stay home. The ‘karensdag’ or initial day without paid sick-leave has been removed by the government and the length of time one can stay home without a doctor’s note has been raised from 7 to 21 days.
As of 10 April 2020, there were 9,685 confirmed cases, of which 749 received intensive care, and 870 deaths related to the newly found virus in Sweden, with Stockholm County being the most affected.[1]

Beloved Seattle-area taco truck owner dies from coronavirus

Many of you may have already seen Lopez’s name among headlines in 2017, after he made national headlines doling out tacos from his food truck on Interstate 5 after a semitruck rolled over and held up traffic.

Sitting among a flutter of honking horns and tense drivers, Lopez too realized he would no longer make it to South Lake Union for the usual Amazon lunch rush. So, he hopped out, and started dishing out steak and chicken tacos to commuters as they awaited freedom on the road.

RIP Thomas Lopez

Yes, High Schools and Universities closed, Elementary Schools open. No sporting events, concerts or other gatherings. Much fewer people out and about, and elderly are sheltering in place. They have also limited travel to only EEA countries. Pretty moderate but effective actions, and at their current rate, they will have to adjust course or risk losing control. They also have the benefit that their neighbors have closed all borders, and global travel and tourism is highly limited right now, making their own control measures easier to manage and more effective. All this in a country the size of California with 1/4th the population and where the largest city is 975 thousand people.

Agreed. That Wikipedia article is quite informative: Sweden is actually doing quite a bit of mitigation — what would have seemed like drastic measures here, a couple months ago. Yet they still are having a rough go of it.
