“That is called ‘Early April’...”

Understood, I get up there about every three months, even in the winter with the snow piled up canyon style on the side of the highways. I definitely thought traffic was at a lower level there, but I was just in and out of L’Anse, so those couple of days could have been an aberration.

Maybe so. A gradual re-opening, such as ending home confinement first and allowing curbside pick-up from so-called “non-essential” businesses, then later on opening up those non-essential businesses and not quarantining out-of-state travelers, and finally opening up bars, restaurants and other popular gathering places sometime in the summer should knock that problem back some, assuming widespread distribution of promising treatments AND assuming there isn’t a COVID clusterf*ck reulting from on-site Easter services or some such.

I will be happier when this crisis is over and I can grocery shop more frequently. Sadly, the fresh stuff is more perishable than the carb-clogged stuff that lasts awhile, so more frequent trips to the store tend to be merited if you want a truly superior diet plan. (Frozen veggies are an exception, thank God.)

I’m checking labels and buying Made in America every chance I get.

And I have not slowed my spending down. What I can’t find in the stores, I will order online.

Look, if people want to go for a relaxing drive — believe it or not, Maryland’s stay-at-home countermeasures allow for that — that’s fine with me, if that’s all they’re doing. If they’re all going someplace to crowd around or frequent an illegally-open business, they’re idiots, and Darwin will catch up to them eventually.

I’m also betting lots of people need to be on-site in the city, probably more than absolutely necessary, but there you have it. Bosses gonna be bossy.

A lot of this problem is from DEBT! It’s just too easy to go into DEBT! Most lending rates are cheap, and a loan is convenient, and in some cases necessary nowadays, for making payroll, and not only the small businesses, but their landlords are in DEBT.

When some major black swan crisis like this pandemic happens, and so many people get idled, suddenly lots of people cannot pay off debt, the bankruptcy courts will eventually get clogged, and our economy is at risk of collapse, all because of all the damned individual, business and government DEBT!

Perhaps when this crap is over, we should disband the Fed (they’re useful, but probably not necessary) and go back to some solid, metals-based standard for money, in order to make it MORE DIFFICULT for so man people to GO INTO DEBT!

“if people want to go for a relaxing drive”

On the Interstates in downtown Dallas, hauling ass at 75 to 80 mph? I dunno.

Like I said, out in the country, it’s mostly trucks. The big cities look like a normal day, minus the morning and evening rush hours.

East Alabama Medical Center Celebrates COVID-19 Patient’s Move From ICU

“As many of you are hoping to see the “the good news” and stories of recovery regarding COVID-19, this celebration at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika is just that.

EAMC posted this video to Facebook Tuesday afternoon, as Tony Thornton was wheeled out of the intensive care unit. The COVID-19 patient has been in the hospital since March 20th. He’s not going home just yet, but he’s happy to have a new home in the hospital outside of ICU.

The hospital staff lined the hallway clapping, cheering and giving two thumbs up, as Thornton was wheeled into his new “regular patient room” the Facebook post said.

The 48-year-old Auburn man is the the first coronavirus patient at EAMC that was on a ventilator and has recovered well enough to be moved out of intensive care.”

I had to go to friend's house in B-more on Sunday afternoon for her to tend to her cat 🐱... Traffic so light and fast... Hit 100 mph on both I-695 and I-70... Post-apocalyptic was how the traffic was running...

Can’t they just wish him well on Closed-Circuit TV? It’s not as though he’s stopped shedding yet. WTH, are their hallways 20 feet wide, with him in the middle and all these people lining the walls???

I had a good friend and fellow alum pass today. He was 77, but otherwise in good health.

There are now 12 cases in my mother in law’s SNF.

And the flu bro’s are screaming, literally screaming to let them go back to their bars.

This is not over. I doubt it’s even the middle yet.

But let loose the dogs and get it over with. Not.

I very sorry to hear that, Vermont Lt. God bless and keep him.

As far as the flubros go, just based on some discussions with them this morning, these are not sane people, they are not reasonable or rational, and some of them are probably legit dangerous.
