Sorry to hear about that.
I worry for my Fathers generations also, they are all in their 70s and 80s. We have my 74 year old mother isolated, we only visit her with mask on.
She is handling it good. She is sewing mask for family members.
I honestly believe they are slit into two groups.
The first is detoxing. Probably went to the legion hall every afternoon.
The second are single minded greedy folk who had way, way too much of their savings in stocks. I used to see this on the bitcoin boards when some fool put the mortgage into BTC.
I guess there are people with an opposing view who are sane, and not selfish. But the common posters are pretty low information and generally ignorant of how the real world works.
In any event, looking at TEUs coming into Long Beach there are few US manufacturers who have much of a supply chain coming out of China. There are still a hundred thousand containers in Shanghai waiting to go INTO China. There isnt much coming out.
Ahhh, the beauty of Just in Time delivery.
As the missus and I walk each day, we see this all over the neighborhood. It ranges from basic flowers and rainbows from grade schoolers to elaborate works like stained glass windows, crosses, etc. Lot's of messages of peace, courage, strength, and biblical verses, along with a few "wash your hands". People are also setting out food, like "bean soup kits" with a quart jar of dry beans, tomatoes and spices, and fruits, vegetables, pantry items, etc.
We got to face time my 97 year old mother in law. First time we saw her in three weeks. She was eating lunch. She said she was fine. Then went back to eating lunch.
She is very funny.
“I guess the bottom line is we wont know until we have large scale testing.”
Real numbers won’t be available for at least 2 years.
Here in the Central Valley of CA, traffic is about 40% of normal, without the congestion of commute hours even showing up.
“We as a whole culture, have become too dependent on the supply chains and live as if thats never going to change.”
Go forward, every corporation will be required to list the risk in their supply chain when they file the quarterly reports.
It’s just not the law yet.
But it will be.
Definitely agree with that. That is metmom’s quote though, I can’t take any credit for her wisdom.
No one can say the information wasn't out there. Plenty of folks on the threads going back to late January and early February warned what was coming. Both financially and economically, it was all warned of. Supply chains, markets, healthcare, quarantines, shortages. People insisted none of this was real. They need someone to lash out at and because you had the ability to see these things and sound the alarm, it becomes your fault. You made this happen.
“Perhaps when this crap is over, we should disband the Fed “
In the olden days Congress would be in charge of the currency.
As bad as the fed is, I prefer them over Congress.
And they are really friggin’ bad.
I think all the printing is a bad idea and will further diminish the value of every dollar.
In the mid term, the purchasing power of the dollar will go down 40%. Long term? Who knows...
Here’s the latest news from Minnesota...
The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting 1154 confirmed tests for COVID-19, an increase of 85 cases from yesterday.
They also confirmed 5 additional deaths, increasing the statewide total to 39. Of the five deaths, four were in congregate care facilities and the 5th was an individual with underlying health concerns.
Currently 135 patients are hospitalized for COVID-19. That’s an increase of 15 from yesterday and 64 are in ICU. No change in yesterday’s number ICU.
Between the Department of Health and private labs, a total of 30753 COVID-19 tests have been conducted.

I predicted healthcare supplies (medicine) would become an issue when they closed the first port back in late January.
I made that happen.
All by myself.
If only I could make myself guess the correct lottery numbers for tonight’s drawing...
“But let loose the dogs and get it over with. Not.”
It’s coming anyway, no matter the proportion of those opposed.
Count on it.
The end of April is about all we’re going to get.
Sorry to hear about your alum chum.
Hope your MIL can stay safe...very scary.
“You made this happen. “
Who?
Me?
Isn’t that what the 2nd Amendment is for?
You guys still have the lowest infection rate per capita of any state.
Agree.
We stocked up on three freezers full of meats, dairy, veggies....hubby’s meds, for the rest of the year, etc.
Went to cash in time, too.
It must be really tough, for the deniers....being in the fog of this war, unprepared.
