I spent some time trying find songs of his that I might know. Paradise was the only one I found. Great song though.

I did run across a really good documentary with the guy. He seemed like a nice guy.

His first album is the only perfect album I’ve ever come across. Every song, every last song, is perfect.

Just came in from sitting in the dark on the deck, under a clouded moon, listening to Prine with an illegal smile.

One of my 20 or 30 favorites:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9czzlwMzBw

Well, I started the engine
And I gave it some gas
And Cathy was closing her purse
Well, we hadn’t gone far in my beat old car
And I was prepared for the worst.

“Will you still see me tomorrow?”
“No, I got too much to do.”
Well, a question ain’t really a question
If you know the answer too.

And the sky is black and still now
On the hill where the angels sing
Ain’t it funny how an old broken bottle
Looks just like a diamond ring
But it’s far, far from me

Thanks, John

Just sang along with John Prine’s songs for an hour. What a genius writer.

“equally sad I never saw him perform.”

Yeah, me neither. Very sad.

“I will have to keep an ear out for his music.”

Lost Dogs & Mixed Blessings is a great album of his. This to me is the last good album, the last one in my life where someone comes home and says: listen to this great album! And you do, and it’s great.

Hubby found this one years ago and on of my fondest memories is hubby, me, and the kid (about 10 then I guess) listening to it sitting in the car outside hubby’s then job. We had that car rocking! Listened to the whole album, and then listened to it again as we drove home.

So sad at this news!

Hello In There

My favorite. Such poignancy. Such beautiful finger pickin'. He was and is an American treasure.
