Everything I read about HCQ describes it’s ability to inhibit virus reproduction. That means it’s most effective when taken early, as a prophylactic measure, rather than waiting til after a person is sick when the virus has already run rampant. It has theraputic value then too, but what makes no sense is the focus on only giving it to people who are already sick. Seems to me that anyone who is at risk such as healthcare workers and family members of someone with covid or those who have contact with the most vulnerable such as nursing home staff, cops, first responders, etc should be taking HCQ right now.
A doctor would prescribe and monitor them of course.
