Tillman Franks was instrumental in the rise of Johnny Horton and played on most of Horton's hits. He wrote “When It's Springtime In Alaska”. On film clips of Johnny Horton Tillman is the man playing the Gretch 6120 with his name embedded in the fretboard. Faron Young died tragically and had no idea that his popularity was coming back with the satellite radio airplay.
