Why don’t you listen to what the doctors and nurses themselves are saying? My sister is a physician, and she went from being a “FluBro” to deeply concerned as soon as her hospital was flooded with COVID-19 patients.

That will not help. Your sister will not be believed by those who want this to be a ‘hoax.’ There’s a FReeper doctor here who was even attacked.

How do you explain this report from the New York Times:

The 1,000-Bed Comfort Was Supposed to Aid New York. It Has 20 Patients.
“It’s a joke,” said a top hospital executive, whose facilities are packed with Coronavirus patients.

OK, either these Citizen Journalists are lying and filmed these scenes BEFORE the outbreak only to show it now, or there is a disconnect between what is being reported by the media and what is really happening in hospitals all over the United States.

If you sister is right, then she should be telling the authorities to send patients overwhelming her hospital to other hospitals whose facilities aren’t being much used so that their burden can be relieved.

Because we don’t SEE it. My neighbor’s sister is a Dr in Mobile and has seen only 12 cases. Of those 12, all but 3 were sent home with mild symptoms. The other 3 were sent to the hospital where all 3 recovered!!! That’s why.

It is accepted by many though that the situation varies from one area to the next. In your opinion, what is the most accurate description of the situation nationwide?

A. Most hospitals are overwhelmed.
B. Most hospitals are not overwhelmed.

I think very few here think that it’s not a problem at all. I think many are like me in thinking that this is a serious pandemic that we are properly addressing. It is NOT a Spanish flu level event IMHO. When Governor Cuomo spouts that he urgently needs 18,000 ADDITIONAL ventilators and begs for additional hospital facilities and hospital ships. Then it turns out he has thousands of ventilators sitting in warehouses and the additional hospital beds remain largely vacant.

Cuomo is like the boy who cried wolf but his wolf never shows up. Instead, a coyote shows up which they can keep at bay...albeit with a lot of hard work and long hours. It will be interesting to observe how New York will deploy and manage the 85,000 volunteer “medical professionals” en route (according to what I just now heard on Fox News) to New York. It will be embarrassing if we begin to hear stories of many sitting around with little to do.

New York City has the most cases. The USNS Comfort was brought in to assist the hospital case load. It can service up to 1200 patients. Yet, it has only 20 patients.

“My sister is a physician, and she went from being a “FluBro” to deeply concerned..”

I suppose it could be distressing to see a regular stream of similarly afflicted. It’s very different than what’s become routine.

Kinda like big city McDonalds customers all of a sudden only ordering the number 2.

I've got an idea - how about every one of you people who claim to know someone who has seen this mass chaos at a hospital just simply name the hospital. Then we'll send one of these citizen journalists out there to confirm. That way, we get good information, instead of rumors or unreliable BS and people can start getting an accurate picture of what is happening. That's reasonable, is it not?

All the arguments just on this thread alone go to show you that all these state-wide lockdown are idiotic. It’s and regional lockdowns/ quarantines as needed would have been a much better way to handle this. But no. We have to listen to the morons in the media, and doctors enjoying the spotlight while the national economy is destroyed and socialism expands.
