I took it as a teen for a summer mission trip. It is a little “trippy” but I think some people are predisposed to having a bad reaction to one drug or another.
For example, I cannot take vitamin d3 in any form, except the sun. It makes me dizzy, faint and makes my hands and feet tingle.

Wow. You must have an extremely low tolerance. Those are overdose symptoms.
It might be that something else is missing from your diet.
