“and thereby exponentially reduce the number of sick who need HCS”

Basic math is all a nursing student needs.

Exponents for many of them are a tough reach.

But you are absolutely right. Masks on the citizenry is a far more effective mitigation tactic than masks on medical staff.

If you have enough masks.

If you don’t you...er...well...you’re effed.

Masks are the key to killing this thing. Otherwise we kill the host.

New Zealand lockdown law officially bans swimming, hunting, surfing
Today, 08:42 PM
Director General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield said the issuing of the Health Notice was to ensure its success and help move the country out of lockdown as soon as possible.

The notice sets out:

• Everyone in New Zealand is to be isolated or quarantined at their current place of residence except as permitted for essential personal movement

• Exercise is to be done in an outdoor place that can be readily accessed from home and two-metre physical distancing must be maintained

• Recreation and exercise does not involve swimming, water-based activities (for example, surfing or boating), hunting, tramping, or other activities of a kind that expose participants to danger or may require search and rescue services

• A child can leave the residence of one joint care-giver to visit or stay at the residence of another joint care-giver (and visit or stay at that residence) if there is a shared bubble arrangement

• A person can leave their residence to visit or stay at another residence (and visit or stay at that residence) under a shared bubble arrangement if:

• One person lives alone in one, or both, of those residences; or

• Everyone in one of those residences is a vulnerable person.

Depends on what kind of nursing and where i guess. My daughter's nursing track included calculus, statistics, organic chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, physics human anatomy and human biology, including work on human corpses in various states of dissection, as well as clinical work with actual patients. The first patient death she saw was as a student.

If you have enough masks.

A medical supply company I buy from almost cancelled my tiny order for masks I had place with them around the 20th of January. I placed my order just hours before all sales of masks were halted. A small business concern I know of, did have their order completely cancelled. All masks sales and production were diverted to somebodies, probably some government agency.

And I bet this agency is still sitting on millions and millions of masks in warehouses, most going unused when the general public could have used them to save lives. I gave away the ones I had ordered to over a score of people in multiple families.

Unused masks will eventually be destroyed when some standard expiration date is exceed (by regulation). This is the usual way our government does things. And if expired items are not destroyed, they'll be auctioned off for penny's on the dollar (as scrap paper perhaps). Whoever buys them at auction, will rebox them with new expiration dates and sell them right back to the same government agencies, or to medical supply companies.

Other than that, I agree. Our HCSs must have priority - but then perhaps a more reusable mask with disposable filters might better suit their needs for the purpose of caring for victims of contagious diseases.

Just my two cents of course - but the whole mask issue, especially the claim by our "experts" that they aren't effective, infuriates me.
