“If states had focused first on testing”

What does testing do? It isn’t some magical process.

What does testing do? It lets you know the ACTUAL spread of the virus, gives you a FAR GREATER pool of cases to understand the progression of the disease, and those numbers serve as a constant reminder to the public what’s going on.

It also allows your economy to continue, abet reduced.

Not testing and doing stay at home orders first means you hide those with mild to no symptoms, you don’t know the actual progression of the disease in the community, and get people taking unnecessary risks because it’s obvious to most everyone that the stay at home orders were premature.

Plus many states are locked into tests which take FAR too long to get results from. We don’t care as much as we’re being ordered to huddle in our homes; if we were all out and about, we would be screaming for more effective and faster timing on tests, as we would be more at risk.

If states went for the test first scheme, they would never have backstopped tests that require lots of lab steps and limit the number of tests which can be processed per hour to just a handful. They’d go ‘HELP, we need to process 3-10 million tests a week!’
