Well, time for a nice walk. It’s classified “essential”.
I believe that sunshine will do more to retard the spread of the virus than anything else. Sunshine/vitamin D is THE preventative and cure for seasonal influenza and for colds. It may well have some effect on this virus, too. Sunshine also is a preventative and cure for depression.Staying cooped up in the house is a sure way to increase the incidence and severity of depression which will increase the incidence and severity of “domestic violence.”
And here we have closed the beaches, even to solo walkers. Sunshine is the best medicine and the government is forcibly reducing access to it.
Everyone has been exposed, so why the martial law, the dictator governors and mayors?
“If states had focused first on testing”
What does testing do? It isn’t some magical process.

Just wait till the grid goes down or internet or cell phones/tablets etc.
Also, it will get interesting if the ‘geniuses’ institute rolling blackouts.......
Soon people will be turning on their air conditioners, keeping indoor conditions ideal for extending the viability of the virus.
Dr showtime will destroy the country if he can be on Tee Vee.
Indeed. Actually the heat does not damage the virus, regardless of what the ppublic scientists are saying. After all it thrives in a 98.6 degree environment very well and is not killed by heat below 133 degrees. What kills influenza viruses, and I do not know if it is effective for this one but might be and sure as hell can’t hurt, is sunshine/vitamin D.
If we’d just gone about our business, washed our hands, the numbers would be the same
Problem I see is - what if this doesn’t die down? What if the infection and death rates stay high?
What if we are 3 or 4 months down the road, and there is little change?
At that point our nation, our economy, and the financial condition of our nation and everyone in it will be beyond recovery.....
What does testing do? It lets you know the ACTUAL spread of the virus, gives you a FAR GREATER pool of cases to understand the progression of the disease, and those numbers serve as a constant reminder to the public what’s going on.
It also allows your economy to continue, abet reduced.
Not testing and doing stay at home orders first means you hide those with mild to no symptoms, you don’t know the actual progression of the disease in the community, and get people taking unnecessary risks because it’s obvious to most everyone that the stay at home orders were premature.
Plus many states are locked into tests which take FAR too long to get results from. We don’t care as much as we’re being ordered to huddle in our homes; if we were all out and about, we would be screaming for more effective and faster timing on tests, as we would be more at risk.
If states went for the test first scheme, they would never have backstopped tests that require lots of lab steps and limit the number of tests which can be processed per hour to just a handful. They’d go ‘HELP, we need to process 3-10 million tests a week!’
Great opportunity for hiring SDC0s, Social Distance Compliance Officer, back to normal, rural US.
The reason why flu season occurs in winter... Because more people are stuck indoors. So the solution to any flu like virus is not lock downs... The complete opposite should be encouraged.
Can’t point it out enough... Japan. No lock downs, people where mask and they have 63 deaths in one of the most densely populated places on earth. 120 plus million people and 63 deaths... Think about it.
SARS eventually disappeared completely (no new infections); it is possible.
Time is on our side in the sense that the infection rate should slow with people taking precautions - not necessarily staying home, but practicing common sense safety measures (distancing, sanitizing, etc.). Also, production of both medical equipment (for treatment) and safety gear (for average people to use) will eventually make it easier for some semblance of normalcy to return - people will go back to work if they are confident they can be treated, and if they can wear protective gear to do so..
I’m shocked to see some store workers still not wearing masks/gloves; not sure why they’re doing that. I need money as much as the next guy, but no job is worth dying for - or bringing an infection home to loved ones.
The stay at home orders (such as they are since most folks can shop and be on the road w/o being queried) are more to remind folks to keep their distance and hopefully stop supplying hosts...I’m against actual lockdowns and prefer “suggestions” laden with rational...but some folks are too stupid to take even basic precautions and will knowingly put others at risk for their own personal convenience - the lazy/spoiled/selfish society we have become is our biggest threat....because....you can’t fix stupid - it has to die out on its own.
What people are not seeing is that the elderly, the retirees, are dead in this scenario. This is building up to, OMG! WE CANT SAVE EVERYONE! WE MUST CHOOSE!
But there’s never a wrong time for pointless vanities.
...or pointless replies.
