This virus has been here for MONTHS, probably started here in the US in late December..people walked around with it and no one knew, no one made a fuss..meanwhile when the swine flu killed over 19,000 Americans, no one knew, no one cared, the economy did NOT get shut down, because they all wanted to protect Obama who did NOTHING for months before declaring a national emergency

If symptoms are present you should be able to go to a drive-up testing site for the Wuhan Virus quick test. If confirmed positive your sent home with Hydroxychloroquine, Azithromycin and Zinc Sulfate. A medical professional would then check on you daily.

Serious, where's the bottleneck on getting this done?

I've been watching this since late December. I was warning people early. I prepped ahead. I'm very concerned about it.

But if this lasts deep into May and the foot of government stays on the neck of business, the panic will absolutely be worse than the disease.

They should look at opening the country back up, county by county.

If the country stay shut down until June 1, we are going to be in a deep recession and/or depression that will take two years to recover.

I’d like to know why a vaccine can be developed for this virus and all is mutations and one cannot for the regular influenza strain? Anybody?

“You value you money over lives! Disgusting!”

/sarcasm

I’m fed up with it all. The lefty idiots are complaining on the one hand that they were fired from their jobs but on the other hand they’re complaining that we want to get back to work. There’s no making them happy.

Personally, I think that Matt Bracken’s professional take is as close to the answer as one could have. He says that this virus was instigated by China, and in fact they are preparing for the second wave, “Covid-20,” and has essentially saying that China plans on winning the Pandemic World War. It’s a great half hour of fact-based analysis. https://banned.video/watch?id=5e867179a5d5f100401de144

Quarantining of the sick and all incoming travelers works. It’s worked for centuries. Testing and contact-tracing makes that strategy work even better. And South Korea has shown better than anybody how a government can execute that testing and contact-tracing in the modern era to be very effective, including use of cell phone location data to track where an infected person has been and test others in that area. And, yes, quarantined infected people do not and should not have the same rights as everyone else to their freedom of movement or privacy.

There is no reason to quarantine the healthy or the entire population. Enforcing it is an absurd waste of resources. And it’s an incredible drain on an economy that turns a health crisis into an economic crisis unnecessarily.

This is a sign of a coddled people, a people cowed by fear, a people who are unwilling to assume any risks or sacrifice for the greater good of their country.

It’s also an attack on basic freedoms. The government should put all the advice and recommendations it can to tell people how to protect themselves. It has done that for centuries. But when it starts forcing everyone to follow them, it turns into a nanny police state on an unprecedented level.

This “chain logic” has been increasingly used to justify police state tactics in health care for decades now. We have heard so often arguments such as that sodas or junk food should be banned because in the long-term it will reduce health care costs or something like that. The argument puts a collective “system” above individual freedom. By this logic, you can start reducing individual freedoms across the board if it will somehow benefit the collective even decades later. It is the road to central planning and state control of every aspect of our lives.

What we’re seeing now is not a standard government reaction to a pandemic as they have done for centuries. Nor is it something new that was just thought of because this virus somehow demands it. What we are seeing is the logical next step in a society that has been putting the state of the “health care system” above individual rights more and more in the modern era. That is why we were told our “health care system” would buckle if we didn’t do these things. The same exact thing we heard when it came to banning sodas and other things. They are dictating to the public in ways they never would’ve a hundred years ago because of a very modern, very dangerous theory about collectivism vs. individuality whose origins have nothing to do with this virus.

Trump should announce he is handing the whole affair over to Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff.

I agree, but many areas are extending the quarantine into the end of May! Its insanity and its going to destroy the country if we can’t get back to work.. I hate seeing so many small businesses going under.

It depends upon where you are. In NYC, a notable portion of the populace is still not taking it seriously enough - especially through last week.

Out in the ‘hinter-lands’, there’s a lot of wild paranoia - still mixed with a sizeable number not taking it seriously enough and wasting all of the sacrifice of their neighbors.

Certainly the panic has revealed which Freepers have a commitment to freedom and the constitution which is tenuous at best.

I think you’re absolutely right. This virus is very contagious but not very dangerous. Shutting down our entire economy for this long IS very dangerous. And it’s not necessary.
