There’s broke.
There’s dead.
And then there’s alive but with million dollar hospital bill and you can never retire.
I choose alive, with bills I will pay the rest of my life. I guess that makes me odd.
The funny thing about hospital bills, if you paid a dollar on it every month, there’s nothing they can’t throw you in debtor’s prison.
Retirement has barely existed as a blip in human history, outside of the very wealthy. I have always assumed it will disappear within a few generations, and people will continue to work until they are no longer able. We live in an incredible time, where regular working class people can travel the world and live in relative luxury without having to work.
I don’t think that’s going to happen. The sad thing that nobody is saying is that this may force us to become a socialist nation. Each according to his need.
It could come down to “either sociaism, or we become inhumane and just let people die.”
Trump thinks we can build a capitalist nation back up again, and I pray to God he is right, but I don’t think we are going to let people suffer and die on principle.
