There are only a limited number of seats for the press at these briefings due “Social Distancing”. THAT is the reason for the empty seats.

As far as lacking interesting news then why do the media repeat the press briefings ad nauseam with their headlines, and stories the 24 hour news cycle following the briefings? Must be something of interest for them to do so.

The propaganda press doesn't televise the briefings live because they do not want their viewers to see the full answer that PDJT gives to their reporter's snarky questions. They prefer framing a selected sound bite of the President in a way to make him look bad, even if their framing is a lie.
