Hajj is a big money maker for the Saudis. The last place I want to be is in Mecca in July where temperatures top out at 110 with 2 MM people.

I was about to say the same thing, that Muslim tourism is a major money maker for the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. So the Saudis will take a hit there this year in tourism, at the same time they are taking a hit with the chaos on world oil markets.

I wonder about those stampedes, which happen on a regular basis. What is it about Islam, or Muslims, or the set up of holy sites visited, or the rituals being conducted, that periodically cause people to erupt in stampedes????
