Well, it is great that Ford & GM are doing this, but even if they started right this second, I am hoping that in 100 days, we won’t be needing as many ventilators, or somebody else will have provided the needed quantity by then.
I would imagine it would take them a while to retool their manufacturing to make these. I hope that is the case & not that they are just dragging their feet or some other reason. Maybe the Ford & GM vents can be used to restock for the next urgent need or to help other countries as necessary.

GM = GE
Here’s a different story
General Motors is quickly moving to repurpose parts of two U.S. automotive factories to manufacture health-care supplies in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
GMs efforts, which have received the ire and, more recently, praise of President Donald Trump, include manufacturing FDA-cleared Level 1 surgical masks at a manufacturing facility in Warren, Michigan, and Ventec VOCSN critical care ventilators at a components plant in Kokomo, Indiana
Doing what exactly?
Pitchin' a great big FU to the entire country?
JMHO, some high-priced paper pushers are begging to get check-reined flat on their overstuffed butts and all Furd/BM are doin' is fighting their way to Head of the Line.
Folks out here in Flyover Country are just..about..to..the..end..of..patience with all of these Songs & Dances and just a few more pokes at the bear like this one are going to have a really poor reaction.
(Social distancing, my broad butt. We've got more problems in Montana with NY/CA/WA high rollers renting places in Missoula/Bozeman and dragging their infections/crappy politics along while they "shelter" here....)
