Others may know about this, but it's new to me. I stumbled across it at of all places, DU. I believe it's Maryland Public Television.

Not as good as Downton Abbey but we ladies will enjoy it.

Excellent and earnest.
The Christmas episodes are usually excellent.
It British, I think, and PBS shows it here like they did Downton.
Enjoy

Yes, it’s a Brit production, set in the dockyards area of the east side of London.

Ten times better than Downton Abbey. Midwife demonstrates a love for others expressed in deeds that puts the snooties to shame.

It is a very poignant series. The characterizations are deep and human, even if some of the drama is a little heavy on the bathos. And I get confused over the dividing line between the midwives and the nuns. I get that not all the former are the latter, but I don't understand how a convent employs lay people to augment their own staff.
But those details don't detract from the warmth and humanity of the stories.

Its horrid!!!!! Your right my wife liked it until one episode where a women had 8 kids and got pregnant. Of course had an abortion. The end showed the happy family walking together into the sunset. Gross! The baby didnt have complications. Just a mom not wanting another kid. The show has zero morals. Thankfully my wife dropped the crap after that episode.

Earlier episodes are better than later.
Entertaining.
Great character actors Jenny Agutter. Judy Parfitt, Linda Bassett and more.

I totally agree. I liked when the original nurse that the series was about was still there.

My wife rarely watches TV, but she is a big fan of this show. I absolutely hate it.
A show that prominently features crying babies and women in labor. What’s not to love? /sarc
