Crime (No Reports)
29 Mar 2020

What have you heard or noticed of crime in your area? I am in the north bay area of CA and the newspaper, news, and police sites are reporting absolutely nothing concerning crime. I know someone on a small town force and they said there is an uptick in crime. I know private security firms that are arming more of their officers, and someone on this site said there were armed security personnel at the local grocery. What is your knowledge and perception of crime during the lockdowns?

While there is probably less crime. There are also less police. And less arrests by those police we have. So lots of factors here. But maybe not what you think.

Nothing new in small town central Iowa, which is not surprising. Some guy assaulted my 79-year-old father in broad daylight on St Charles Ave in New Orleans on Monday. N.O. always was a violent city. Sounds like things have gotten even worse in the last few weeks.

He does not carry. Dad was a wrestler and martial arts enthusiast in high school. When the assailant slugged him down from behind, he spun so he’d land on his back instead of face-down. Dad found a way to punish the assailant with savate kicks until the guy gave up and ran away like a little bitch. Dad was super proud to report that he did not give up his wallet.

My area on the NextDoor site has some reports of property crimes going up. People trying to get into cars parked on the streets, people getting stuff out of driveways, etc.

Give this thing a few more weeks.....We better get it under control. SHTF is only one step away. The virus may subside but the economy is going to be a very real problem and that will cause more deaths and civil unrest.

Domestic disputes/assaults have jumped up. No surprise there. Here, we're in the end of the month period when the dopefiends & welfarians are hard up for funds, coupled with the current narcotics access & distribution problems has made things much more exciting this month. Shoplifting turning into robberies. Much more belligerence and erratic behavior out of the dopefiends - they can't get what they need and/or they're trying less than ideal substitutes for what they're used to. Been a good number of people yanking off their clothes in public and trying to fight everyone in the past week. The main action starts up after midnight - alarm calls, burglaries, attempted burglaries, suspicious activities, snoopers with flashlights. There are even idiots who have been breaking into homes with people still inside. Last night there was a guy going through an apartment complex picking up anything laying outside and loading it up (probably metal) - desperate dopefiend activity at its finest.

My kids are all grown and gone. One lives alone and didn’t want to buy a gun. My son lives 15 miles from her but several states from me.

I asked him to loan her a shotgun. She’s knowledgeable and was thankful.

Just in case the social order breaks down.

Someone busted through a wall at a local Merry Maids in Albuquerque to get to the cleaning supplies.

Most of what I’ve seen on local news has been burglary of shuttered small businesses.

I’ve noticed that for several weeks we haven’t seen the “box score” reports of Fri-Sun shootings/deaths in Chicago.
