Facing. The stiff stuff for plackets and cuffs. Maybe doubled if that’s breathable. I thought of facing because if you tear down a surgi mask, the middle layer is about as close to facing as you can get, just not as stiff.
Facing is fast drying, it will hold up to an alcohol disinfection bath or very hot soapy water soak, it’s flexible but stiff enough to stay in place inside the mask shell, it’s cheap, it won’t add bulk to the mask, it’s nonwoven so it can trap virus clumps, and it has an element of water repellence.
