A Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted in the past several days could offer what one behavioral health expert called a "fascinating" hint of the possible numbers.

In the nationwide poll, 2.3% of Americans surveyed said they've been diagnosed with the coronavirus, a percentage that could translate to several million people.

Of course, it's impossible to know if the answers are a result of misinformed self-diagnoses, untested professional diagnoses or test-confirmed infections.

It also happens to be an order of magnitude more than the number of tests conducted.

If just half those people are actually positive then the death rate is only 0.17%.

The only thing fascinating here is that they managed to break 90% on an answer to a question on a poll (the no answer). Usually a good 10% of people either aren’t paying attention or are screwing with the pollsters. IN one poll only 84% of people agreed with the statement that “I have always believed the world is round.”

Even if this poll was anywhere near correct and I highly doubt it, these would be very good numbers. Slow rate of infection and very low mortality rate of about 0.3%

Of course, it's impossible to know if the answers are a result of misinformed self-diagnoses, untested professional diagnoses or test-confirmed infections.

I would guess the majority is self-diagnoses, from people who felt sick at some point this year.. There's no way 2MM+ people have a confirmed infection, that doesn't show up anywhere except this random poll. And it's unlikely to be untested professional diagnoses, as no doctor is gonna tell you you have something like this, unless they have positive tests / proof.
