Just read an email message sent by Hospital exec to health care workers in Austin, TX. They are expecting a surge in patients over the next 3-4 weeks.
If ventilators run out, they will be allocated to those “most likely to benefit”. That means to younger, healthier patients. The old and sick will be left to die.

If you have to go on a vent with this virus the odds of ever coming off are not good regardless of age.
They are already doing this in Italy. Lets pray this does not come to pass in Austin.

take it with a grain of salt. Ventilators are being pumped out, and 3M and the pillow guy is churning out masks. I forget who’s doing PPEs, but that’s on like donkey kong too just like the distilleries producing swimming pools of hand sanitizer for hospitals, and motorcycle helmet guys and 3-d printer open source patterns for producing face shields. Supplies will go to hotspots first and rotated to the next.

Austin will indeed see a huge surge of cases. I’m just north of Austin and there were Spring Break idiots and now stupid vacationers partying like there’s no tomorrow. For some of them and us, there may be no tomorrow.
I tried to talk to the next door neighbor yesterday back porch to back porch and we had to give up because the party noise was so loud we couldn’t hear each other.
A week ago, our moronic county officials encouraged people to break the stay home and come stay in vacation rentals. Sure, come spread the virus to our little town. Contaminate our grocery store. Contaminate our gas pump handles. Contaminate our restaurant drive thru workers. Contaminate the housekeepers of those rentals.
Spain has already been taking respirators off those aged 65 and doping them up with drugs so they die peacefully. Dead bodies are being stacked in an ice rink in Madrid.
Maybe Cuomo could ship us all those ventilators he’s keeping in storage.
