Yes it does.
There are more sick people in places where there are more people...
The image would look the same if you charted the “non-sick” people...
Who’d a thunk it?

Well, not necessarily. I know North Carolina well and can say that it looks like a map of likely international travel. Raleigh and Wake County are blue whereas far larger Charlotte and Mecklenberg County are not. Asheville and Buncombe County are blue and they’re far from being a large metro despite the huge influx of new residents over the past decade.

Actually it doesn’t. There are metro areas on that map with relatively low populations that are elevated for number of cases.
