When I was in the graduate school of education at an unamed flaship university I was to write my masters in science education on John Dewey. My thesis adviser was a renowned expert on Dewey and his philosophy. All I had to do was write a thesis. I told the professor I couldn’t do it, because if we followed Dewey it would destroy the American education system. This was in 1969. And sure enough, look at what the god named John Dewey has wroght—it can be spelled Pure Rot.

Arguably, we had much better schools when traditional ideas dominated. Cursive. The 3 R’s. Phonics. Arithmetic with mastery. Facts, knowledge, and academics. Geography, History, and General Science. Literature and a second language. Homework, tests, grades, proper spelling, discipline, accuracy, and promptness. Teachers would teach directly; they were supported by the principal and community. In those days, schools tried to build character. Common sense instruction that was proven and intuitive. <<<

Can you imagine if a few conservative private schools started with this as their “Mission Statement”!.......”Elite” would have a whole new meaning!!....The libs would have to shut them down quick ‘cause they'd instinctively know their kids wouldn't stand a chance to excel in anything with the education they are now receiving....!!
