I lived in Europe for a few years in the early 1980s. Because of that, I cannot donate blood. I always tell people that anyone who receives my blood will get Mad Cow Disease and die, even though I’m fine.

I'm in the same boat. For years they have been saying they will have a test, but still not test. Have you heard anything?

Same deal for me. More than 6 months in the UK in the early ‘80s.
They don’t want my blood.

The local Red Cross blood donation center lost about 1/4 of their donors (including me) over CJD.
I spent a grand total of 4 days in England during my 4 1/2 years in Germany, where there were never any reports of mad cow. I suppose there were only happy cows in Germany.

Same - I got back to the States 2 weeks after the cutoff date so i can’t donate blood either.
