So you’re saying if there was a single person who was almost dead from lupus when they got infected and they happened to be on hydroxychloroquine but died anyway, that would be enough to for you to say no one should be getting the drug?
If there is one dead from Lupus and not pneumonia it will be on the death certificate. That is why they are filled out that way. This is knowable information as well and in no way would confound the study.
